Tipping
Updated over 2 weeks ago

In this article you will find all the necessary information you need to activate the tip in the viva.com terminal application.

Enable Tipping in the viva.com app

  • Press the More button

  • Select Tipping

  • Activate the Tipping option

  • Select the tipping options you want

The available options are:

  • One-step tip: Simple and quick tip selection
Users can quickly add the desired amount to the total amount. This requires the Percentage or Custom tip function to be enabled. If the user confirms the tip, the final amount will be updated and displayed on the screen. If the user rejects it, then they will be prompted to use Percentage or enter the desired amount (Custom Tip).

  • Percentage options: Predefined tip percentage options
Users can set up to three tip options as a percentage of the total amount. Customers see these options before they complete the payment

  • Custom tip: Manual entry of tip amount
Users can manually enter the tip amount. If enabled along with the percentage options, a fourth option labeled "Other Amount" is added

  • Round tip up: Round the total amount upwards
This option disables all other tip options and suggests the customer round the total amount up to the next whole number

In more detail:

  • If the amount is less than 20 and the decimals < 0.50, it is rounded to the next whole number. (e.g. 8.49 → 9.00)

  • If the amount is less than 20 and the decimals ≥ 0.50, it is rounded to the second decimal place. (e.g. 8.67 → 10.00)

  • If the amount is ≥ 20 and the decimals < 0.50, round to the second decimal place. (e.g. 21.49 → 23.00)

  • If the amount is ≥ 20 and the decimals ≥ 0.50, round to the third decimal place. (e.g. 21.67 → 24.00)

  • If the amount is ≥ 40 and the decimals < 0.50, round to the third decimal place. (e.g. 41.49 → 44.00)

  • If the amount is ≥ 40 and the decimals ≥ 0.50, round to the fourth decimal place. (e.g. 41.67 → 45.00)

Enable Tipping on viva.com Terminal devices

First you will need to enable the tip option from your terminal by selecting: System > Settings > Tipping. Then select the tipping options you want.

The available options are:

  • Percentage of the amount of the transaction. By default, you will see 5%, 10% and 15%, but you can change them as you wish

  • Show other amount

Once you have activated tipping, enter the purchase amount in the cash register. The amount will be displayed on the terminal screen.

The cardholder informs about the amount of tip he/she wishes to offer and then presents the card for charging the total amount.

This is followed by approval of the billing.

Upon completion of the transaction, the preview of the receipt is displayed and a copy can be issued to the customer.
