Tipping lets your customers add a tip when making a payment. You can set up different tipping options in the Viva.com app or on your Viva.com Terminal device.
Enable tipping in the Viva.com app
Select More.
Select Tipping.
Activate Tipping.
Choose the tipping options you want to offer.

Available tipping options
One-step tip | Provides a quick way to add a tip to the total amount. To use One-step tip, Percentage or Custom tip must also be enabled. If the tip is confirmed, the final amount is updated and displayed on the screen. If it is rejected, the Percentage or Custom tip option is displayed. |
Percentage options | You can set up to three predefined tip percentages based on the total amount. Customers see these options before completing the payment. |
Custom tip | Allows a tip amount to be entered manually. When Custom tip and Percentage options are both enabled, a fourth option labelled Other Amount is displayed. |
Round tip up | Rounds the total amount upwards. When Round tip up is enabled, all other tipping options are disabled. |

The rounded amount depends on the transaction amount:
Transaction amount | Decimal amount | Example |
Less than 20 | Less than 0.50 | 8.49 → 9.00 |
Less than 20 | 0.50 or more | 8.67 → 10.00 |
20 or more | Less than 0.50 | 21.49 → 23.00 |
20 or more | 0.50 or more | 21.67 → 24.00 |
40 or more | Less than 0.50 | 41.49 → 44.00 |
40 or more | 0.50 or more | 41.67 → 45.00 |
Enable tipping on Viva.com Terminal devices
Open System.
Select Settings.
Select Tipping.
Enable tipping and choose the tipping options you want to offer.
Available tipping options
Percentage tips | By default, the available percentages are 5%, 10%, and 15%. You can change these percentages. |
Other amount | Allows another tip amount to be entered. |
After you have enabled tipping:
Enter the purchase amount in the cash register.
The purchase amount is displayed on the Terminal screen.
The cardholder chooses the tip amount they want to add.
The cardholder presents their card to pay the total amount.
The payment is submitted for approval.
When the transaction is complete, a receipt preview is displayed and a copy can be issued to the customer.
Find sales transactions that include a tip
You can use Advanced Search in your Viva.com account to find transactions that include a tip.
From the homepage of your Viva.com account, go to Sales.
Select Sales Transactions.
Select Advanced Search.
In the Tip field, select With Tip.
Select Search.
All transactions that include a tip are displayed at the bottom of the screen.
To view the tip details, select either:
the icon next to the total transaction amount, or
Info.
