Accept IRIS payments directly through your POS terminal
IRIS payments allow your customers to pay directly from their banking app by scanning a QR code displayed on your POS terminal. No physical card is required.
With this new feature, you can offer your customers a modern, secure, and instant payment method.
Once the customer completes the payment in their banking app, the transaction is confirmed instantly on your terminal.
Before you start
To accept IRIS payments, you must have:
A compatible terminal
Supported devices include:
Viva.com Terminal App (Android / iOS), Soft POS
Ciontek (CM30C / CS30 PRO / CS50C / CS20)
Sunmi (P2 LITE SE / P2 SE / P2 SMARTPAD)
PAX devices (A8900 / A35 / A80 / A910 / A920 / A50 / A77 / IM304G / IM20)
Prolin (S900 / D200 / S800 / Q30)
A supported integration protocol (if required for your business setup)
Cloud Terminal API
App2App (InterApp)
Local Terminal API (A. 1155/2023)
ECR Protocol (A. 1098/2022)
A registered business IBAN
Your business IBAN must be registered in the Register of Business Bank Accounts.
You will need to visit the AADE website (Επαγγελματικός Λογαριασμός | ΑΑΔΕ) and declare the IBAN where you receive IRIS payments.
Software update availability
Gradually, from 25/11, compatible terminals will automatically receive a software update that enables IRIS payments.
Supported software versions:
Android Viva.com Terminal app: 5.32.2
PAX Paydroid Terminal app: 4.33.0
iOS Viva.com Terminal app: 5.32.1
Prolin: 5.60
No action is required once the update is completed. The IRIS payment option will appear automatically in your terminal menu.
How IRIS payments work
Enter the transaction amount on your POS terminal.
Tap the bottom-right button next to the card icon, where the active alternative payment methods you have available are displayed.
Select the IRIS QR Code payment option.
A QR code appears on the terminal screen.
The customer scans the QR code using their bank’s mobile banking app. To complete the payment successfully, the customer’s mobile device must have an active internet connection.
The customer confirms the payment in their banking app.
Once the payment is approved:
the POS terminal receives confirmation,
and a receipt is printed.
Refunds are supported through the POS terminal.
How the IRIS payment appears on the POS
Below you can see how to select IRIS in order to accept a payment on your terminal, by terminal type (Viva.com Terminal app, Ciontek, Sunmi).
Accordingly, for PAX terminals:
Prolin terminals (S900 / D200 / S800 / Q30):
After entering the amount to be charged, select option (1) for IRIS QR.
The QR code is then displayed for the payer to scan.
