Setting Up and Activating Your Viva.com Terminal App
Setting Up and Activating Your Viva.com Terminal App
Updated this week

To start accepting payments with the Viva.com Terminal app, there are two basic ways to activate it: through a simple login or through a PIN code.

through a simple login

through a PIN code

Simply enter the username and password of one of your account users and you can start accepting payments.

Follow the in-app instructions until you create a PIN. Give this PIN to someone who has access to your account. This user can log into the account and activate the terminal using the appropriate option either through web-banking or through the Viva.com Banking app.

Which way to use

You can choose whichever activation method you prefer, but there are some best practices depending on the structure of your business.

Category of business

Optimal Activation Method

If you are a freelancer or a sole trader

When you are the only user of your account:

  • Simply log in to the Viva.com Terminal app using your password. It's the simplest and easiest way to start accepting payments.

If there are many users per shift

If you plan to use the Viva.com Terminal app on a device that is used by more than one user at the same time during the same shift:

  • Use the protection with PIN

  • Use the function Payment Reference to track the transactions made by each user.

If there is one user per shift

If the device is used by more than one employee, but each user uses it exclusively for an entire shift:

  • Create additional user profiles in your account.

  • Require each user to log in to the app at the beginning of their shift and log out before handing over the device.

Here's how you can add users and define their access.

In any case, if your business has frequent staff changes and you need to quickly integrate new employees:

  • Turn on the device using PIN protection.

  • Use the calendar batch management function to check transactions at the end of each shift.

Useful notes:

  1. Immediately after activation, make sure you assign a friendly name to each newly activated terminal so that you can quickly and easily recognize it. Find out how to do this here

  2. You can protect the app settings by enabling PIN protection. Find out how to do it here

  3. If you have more than one store or multiple sales points, we recommend creating a separate store and adding each new activated Viva.com Terminal App to the respective store.

The Viva.com Terminal application offers flexibility and security in payment management, adapting to different environments and needs. Whether you use a Mini Reader, your employees' personal devices or a dedicated device, you can leverage the app's capabilities by following the guidelines below for optimal usage and functionality.

Using the Viva.com Terminal app with Mini Reader

If you plan to use the Viva.com Terminal app with a Mini card Reader, you can follow the instructions below and then connect the Mini card Reader via Bluetooth.

See detailed instructions on how to connect the Mini Reader to the Viva.com Terminal app here

Note: Make sure your Mini card Reader is sufficiently charged before you start the connection.

Activate the Viva.com Terminal app on your employees' personal devices

The "Bring Your Own Device" policy is very popular in some industries and countries.

The Viva.com Terminal app, for both Android and iOS, has been designed, tested and certified to comply with the latest security standards. Therefore, it is completely safe to use the Viva.com Terminal app on your staff-owned devices.

In the event of termination of your relationship with an employee, you can deactivate the Viva.com Terminal app from their device via your e-banking.

To deactivate the Viva.com Terminal app running on a specific device, see here.

Tip: Make sure that immediately after activation you assign a friendly name to each newly activated Viva.com Terminal app device, otherwise you run the risk of deactivating the wrong device.

Use the Viva.com Terminal app on an exclusive device

The Viva.com Terminal app uses Viva.com's unique Tap on Any Device technology. If you plan to use a dedicated device for accepting payments, in connection with a cash register or point-of-sale pc, it is best to assign a static IP address to the device, either directly or through a DHCP IP reservation setting on your router.

This is a standard IT procedure, so the advice of your company's technical support (IT) manager is the best way to proceed.
