Payconiq decommissioning – Important information for merchants
Bancontact Payconiq Company (BPC) has announced the transition from Payconiq to Wero, a new pan-European payment platform. As part of this evolution, the Payconiq service was officially decommissioned on December 5. The migration of BPC-managed merchants to Wero is scheduled for Q4 2025.
As a result, the specific collaboration between Viva.com and BPC related to Payconiq has come to an end, and Viva.com is no longer able to process Payconiq QR-code payments.
Update on the QR code displayed on your terminal
The QR code currently displayed on your terminal is no longer a Bancontact or Payconiq payment QR code.
It now serves solely as a redirection of QR code to our Smart Checkout page.
Consequently, this QR code can no longer be scanned directly using the Payconiq app or mobile banking applications.
How can your customers pay now ?
Your customers can :
Scan the QR code using their smartphone camera.
They will be redirected to our secure standard e-commerce payment page.Complete their payment using any available method, such as :
- Bancontact;
- Visa;
- Mastercard
- And other supported payment methods
From this payment page, they can also generate a Bancontact QR code (which is not a Payconiq QR code) which can be scanned :
- either with the customer’s banking app;
- or with the Payconiq app;
- and the payment process will continue as usual.
Origin of this change
This change results from a unilateral decision taken by Payconiq powered by Bancontact, which impacts all acquirers processing Payconiq transactions, including Viva.com.
