How do interest-free installments work?

Each time you process a card charge, you can offer your customers the option to either pay the full amount of the transaction at once or to pay in equal monthly interest-free installments.

viva.com ensures that the amount corresponding to each installment (minus viva.com’s fee) will be credited to your viva.com account each month. The first installment will be credited to your account within 30 business days from the date of the transaction.

For interest-free installments, the total purchase amount is initially reserved on your customer's card, which prevents them from making additional purchases if there is insufficient available credit. Each month, the amount corresponding to each installment is charged until the full amount is paid off.

Can I charge interest-free installments on all cards?

Interest-free installments are supported only on credit cards, specifically those issued by Greek banks.

In the case of Payment Notifications or remote charges, if a credit card supports interest-free installments, the option will automatically appear in the payment form.

I have processed a refund for a transaction with installments, but my customer still sees the amount as reserved on their credit card balance. Why is this happening?

This occurs because, at the time of the initial charge, the total purchase amount is reserved on your customer's card.

The amount will remain reserved even if you reverse the transaction. This means that each month, the customer will see a charge for the installment amount and a corresponding credit of the same amount until the end of the installment period, at which point the reservation will be released.
